'When musical ability and performance insight come together, wonderful things happen'
The Willow Trio are a Glasgow-based clarsach trio consisting of Maya MacAdam, Sophie Rocks and Romy Wymer, established in 2020. The trio plays music ranging from classical to traditional to their own original contemporary compositions. They have performed at festivals such as Kelburn Garden Party, Glasgow's West End Festival, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe and regularly tour small and rural venues throughout the UK. They're also part of the Live Music Now Scotland scheme.
Funded by Tasgadh, the trio have released their debut EP of Gaelic and Gaelic-inspired music, Oystercatchers, in 2021, which is available on all streaming platforms.
Their latest project is the Swan of Salen, a multimedia ballet project which joins Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with Gaelic culture, folklore and music, which you can read more about here. The accompanying album was released in February 2023, and the production is currently touring.

Out-with the trio, each member follows a diverse career – multi-instrumentalist Maya MacAdam writes and performs as Maya's Radio Orchestra, and plays with Catalyst Symphony and the Sleekit Beasties. Composer, teacher and performer Romy Wymer is working on her first album. Sophie Rocks works as a performer, programmer and curator with a passion for bringing band new music to the forefront in both public and community settings.
